Work Experience

PREVIOUS ROLES

SENIOR HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER

LIMINAL INSIGHTS
MAY 2022 - SEPT 2024

I concepted, designed, and tested several ultrasonic metrology platforms to scan a variety of EV battery cells.

  • Concepted the 2-axis motion architecture subsystem for the latest flagship off-line metrology tool and led the mechanical design & development of the prototype.
  • Designed 2 intern projects and mentored engineering students to successfully complete their projects within a 10 week internship; projects were later used by the systems group in validation.
  • Iteratively prototyped exploratory tools and fixtures to aid systems R&D in deepening the understanding of the ultrasonic transducer stack.
  • Troubleshot irregular machine behavior through detailed analysis of ultrasonic wave data and conducted experimental studies to determine the root cause of the issue by successfully isolating and identifying the faulty component.
  • Managed PDM Vault, Toolbox, and Revision Control/Change Management.

R&D MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

MIZUHO OSI
AUGUST 2019 - MAY 2022

I concepted, designed, and tested a subsystem of the newest orthopedic surgery table.

  • Concepted and designed two iterations of a prototype subsystem build. Subsequently validated the performance to meet the motion and load specifications.
  • Performed FEA analyses of structural components in a prototype build.
  • Worked with an external vendor to develop a unique part for the custom motion application to meet safe design criteria.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING INTERN

DISASTER MITIGATION ROBOTICS STARTUP
MAY 2018 - OCTOBER 2018

I designed an actuated tensegrity robot capable of disaster relief and monitoring to aid and provide relevant data to first responders in the case of an unknown hazmat or disaster scenario.

  • Picked and prototyped the gas sensor array and camera feed collater circuit boards.
  • Developed the powertrain mechanism and assembly for the self-actuated robot.
  • Oversaw the creation and management of the full CAD assemblies of all robot versions.

BRAKES & DRIVER INTERFACE LEAD

FSAE STUDENT TEAM
OCTOBER 2016 - PRESENT

I designed and manufactured a performance braking system and an accommodating driver interface. Through testing and validation of our simulations, I was able to improve the braking response of the Formula Student car to be more consistent at a wider range of speeds. I currently lead and instruct a team of 4 members in designing the system.

  • Designed the pedal tray, hydraulic brake system, and ergonomic body attitude.
  • Presented my design decisions to industry professionals at competition with justification.
  • Designed brake system in Solidworks.

CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIST INTERN

DESIGN & PROTOTYPING
JULY 2017 - AUGUST 2017

I iterated on the mechanical design of the Boxlock prototype and performed thorough integration testing on the beta versions of the lock. I contributed to design decisions regarding internal structure and mounting of the electronics to optimize internal space and wiring.

  • Led a project team to develop a package protection service for getBoxlock.com
  • Featured by Kickstarter and 200% funded within 1 month: #1 New Product in Amazon Keyed Locks category.
  • Built the circuitry for the product.
  • Hired and instructed contractors in assembling prototypes for beta testing.
  • Assisted other mechanical design projects to ensure functionality in edge use cases.
